Balancing Your Dream and Your Job

Let's be honest, living your dreams is a process and a journey. For many, a part of that journey is working a full-time day job, while you hustle your dream on the side. If you're anything like me, you've got big dreams! Dreams that can't be boxed into a cubicle.

Balancing the dream and the job has become a talent that has allowed me to grow my brand and prevented me from becoming homeless. There's an art to the hustle of dreaming and working. Sometimes you have to be an accountant during the day and come home and build that fashion brand at night. A fulltime job provides the funds to pay the cost for the dream because the saying is true, the dream is free, the hustle is sold separately. Here's my list of five ways to balance your dream and your job:

1. Manage Your Time Wisely

We all only have 24 hours in a day. I know some of us wish we could have 28, but sorry 24 is all we have. Because our time per day is limited it is very important that we manage our time and prioritize our task, especially when your building your dream on the side.

So what does this look like? Sometimes you'll have to choose your business over brunch. Instead of bottomless mimosa on a sunny Saturday afternoon, or the Sunday day party that you've been seeing all over instagram, you'll have to set a date with a laptop and get to making that dream a reality! And after you put in the work, celebrate yourself with a hot bubble bath or your favorite glass of wine. Remember, it's about balance!

2. Use A Planner To Stay On Track

Balancing your dream and your job requires accountability and strategy. Having an accountability partner is great, but when you are the CEO of your dream, the chief accountability officer is you! My favorite way to manage my time and organize my task is a personal planners. Planners help me to consolidate my to do list, goals, and important dates in one place, helping me from being scattered and forgetting things.

When you are building a business while working a full-time job, the to-do list is doubled and a planner is the perfect place to keep everything on track. Click here to shop one of my favorite planners, The GIRL CEO Planner. Another planner I love is Passion Planner because it has a section for your daily task and one for your passion (your dream) making it easier to manage both. Check out my passion planner review video here.

3. Stay Positive

Manifesting your dreams isn't all about working hard. A large part of success and manifesting is mental. While your balancing your dream and your job make it a habit to keep your thoughts, words, and energy positive. Use affirmations, listen to uplifting music, and limit your time around dream killers and negative Nancy (haters and negative energy).

4. Establish Yourself as a V.I.P.

Just like you are the CEO of your life, you are also the V.I.P. of your dreams. Of course you are a VERY IMPORTANT PERSON, but this V.I.P. acronym stands for Vision Intention Plan, and you'll need one if your dreams are going to manifest. In your vision intention plan, determine what your vision is for your dream, how you intend to manifest, and when you plan on accomplishing the goals aligned with your vision. You can learn more about creating a vision intention plan in my book The Dream Vision Reality Guide: Workbook & Journal. No pressure though, this blog post is more than enough to get you started.

5. Surround Yourself With Winners

Success leaves clues, and usually it's found in other people. If you are the only one in your crew talking about your dreams and taking action to manifest them, it's time to switch your circle up. This doesn't mean ditch your friends without dreams and goals, but get connected to like minded individuals who can journey with you. I've heard success is lonely, but it doesn't have to be. And you can develop a winners circle in real life and on social media. Follow some new accounts with inspiring content, attend a networking event within your dream arena, and get ready for all of the amazing things that are going to happen once you start taking your dreams and yourself seriously!
